snap happy: challenge #2; the eyes...

Right now I'm 'enrolled' in the "joy of love" class through willette which sends a daily photo challenge throughout the month of February.  One from this weekend was:

The Eyes
So, here are both my boys and their baby blues...

catch up...

I guess it's time to play a little catch up in the world of Boogie...

We've tried and tried and have successfully regained some of our BFing capabilities!  As you may remember, it seemed that after our vacation it may have been the end of a winning streak, but we continue on!  I am able to feed Boogie three of his five daily feedings, the other two we supplement with formula.  I'll admit, I felt really guilty at first, even shameful to be seen buying formula. In the long run though, I think this has been good for both of us. It still allows us to bond, but gives us both a little independence as well. A little formula never hurt anyone now, did it? :)

Last week we referred to Boogie as 'the slug' in regards to his crawling technique.  I'm happy to announce he is now officially a crawler, with perfect form I might add!  A few days ago I decided it was time to pull out the video camera so we could catch some of his slug-like moves on film.  As soon as I turned the darn thing on, Boogie pushed right up onto all fours and started crawling like a pro! He's been going non-stop since. Although, sometimes he does get going a little too fast for his own good and belly face flops.

Boogie is one strong boy and has discovered how to pull himself up onto everything.  In just the last week we have had to remove the mobile and bumpers from his crib and lower his mattress a few notches. It seems now he would prefer to stand than sit. Goal for this week: completely baby proof this house!

Look, I'm standing up to my challenge already! I got the inspiration from Willette and their 'joy of love' class. Today's challenge:

snap happy: throwing down a challenge...

Since Boogie was born I've become very snap happy.  J's present to me when Boogie arrived was a brand new, Canon Rebel XS; not the fanciest of fancy cameras for all you pros out there, but for me....perfect!

My original goal of getting a 'nice' camera was to be able to take the best pictures of our little man as I possibly could.  I wanted to be able to look back one day and relive all these moments as if they were yesterday. But...I feel like this camera is growing into a passion or even an obsession.....I'm starting to challenge myself to learn more and try new things.  I took a very basic intro to digital photography class last night and I left incredibly inspired and driven to learn and take lots and lots of pictures.  I left class feeling like I was finally starting to grasp some basic concepts. I now feel confident enough to move out of the preset programs and into the 'do it yourself' settings......but more importantly, I finally realized how much there is to learn and if I ever want to get better then I better start practicing!

I'm not one to make 'new year's resolutions' so, I'm not going to call it that, but I'm throwing down a challenge for myself.   At least once/week I will challenge myself to aim the camera at something other than my adorable little man and stretch my creativity.  There are tons of blogs out there that give 'photo challenges' monthly, weekly, even daily.  I'll use those ideas as inspiration and share my journey with you here. And, yes, Sweet Peas & Sassafras: Project 365, I may have stolen your idea.....consider it a compliment as you are one of those that inspire me :)

I welcome critiques and ideas! Keep an eye out for blog posts titled snap happy......

Before I go I want to share with you my very first picture in 'Manual'.  Yea, I know it's far from perfect, but for a first attempt, I think I did pretty well....

the slug

We have a crawler! Well, kind of....

Boogie has been mastering the army crawl/inch worm move over the last two weeks. He is very efficient at moving from one place to another using this technique. Daddy calls him a slug...

BUT over the last 24 hours he has attempted the 'up-on-all-fours' technique.  He has mastered getting into position and has taken a few 'steps' in the stance, but then retreats to using 'the slug.'

Proof is in the pictures....
